Job Summary and Qualifications

  • Demonstrates the ability to adapt technique/treatment to age of population served, including newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, while providing care/service with respect to cultural differences and spiritual needs

  • The Paramedic can establish IV access as delegated by a RN Routine IV access includes initiation of an IV saline lock. (The Paramedic may not regulate IV rates, add additional IV fluids, or perform IV irrigation)

  • Provides assistance with patient care, transportation of patients, specimens and supplies; cleaning and stocking the department, patient rooms and transport ambulance; other duties as assigned

  • Performs intra facility transport duties adhering to established job description standards of an Paramedic

  • Performs assigned tasks and activities according to skill level and patient needs as assessed by the RN

  • The Paramedic supports nursing personnel in providing care to patients and assists with providing a safe, quiet, clean, organized environment for healthcare delivery

  • Answers telephone and intercom efficiently and courteously, relaying messages and calls to appropriate personnel and other departments as needed

  • Maintains records, transcribes physician orders, and assures orders are carried out in an expeditious manner

  • Coordinates activities of nursing unit with other departments

  • Recognizes when and how to escalate patient concerns up the chain of command

  • Presents a positive image at all times while directing customers to appropriate areas

  • Performs all other duties as assigned

What qualifications you will need:

Required Registration, Licensure or Certification:

  • Current certification/licensure as a Paramedic or EMTA (Emergency Medical Technician Advanced) per state requirements

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) verification course through the American Heart Assoc. or American Red Cross - Healthcare Provider CPR

Preferred Registration, Licensure or Certification:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) verification course through the American Heart Assoc. or American Red Cross - Healthcare Provider CPR within 90 days of hire

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through the American Heart Assoc. or American Red Cross - Healthcare Provider CPR within 90 days of hire

Required Education or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Education or Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a field paramedic with an EMS agency and/or clinical experience working in a hospital
