Job Title: Process EngineerJob Description

The Process Engineer is responsible for utilizing sound engineering practices to troubleshoot and resolve process issues, acting as a process expert for internal and external customers and implementing systemic improvement efforts in order to enhance quality and reduce production costs. This role requires quick resolution of process issues on the production floor to minimize downtime, driving continuous improvement efforts to enhance operational efficiency and manufacturing consistency, and providing process expertise to internal and external customers to expand the intellectual property of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize sound engineering practices to quickly resolve process issues on the production floor and minimize downtime.

  • Drive and implement continuous improvement efforts to improve operational efficiency and manufacturing consistency.

  • Provide process expertise to internal and external customers to utilize and expand the intellectual property of the business.

  • Act as a mentor to train and develop capable, independent line operators, lab technicians, and Process/Engineering Technicians/Interns.

  • Serve as a technical resource for customers and internal stakeholders to implement new processes and resolve production-related issues.

  • Provide guidance and direction to Production Managers, Line Operators, and technicians to ensure on-time completion of assigned tasks.

  • Provide ongoing technical assistance and training on hardware processing to the Production Operators.

  • Assist in evaluating project feasibility and alignment with VST capabilities; coordinate conceptual production processes to validate/reject feasibility.

  • Design tooling and racks for chemical processing of manufactured components made in various configurations and base materials.

  • Drive production process implementation and manage the transition into production to drive timely processing and project completion; troubleshoot technical and process-related issues as needed.

  • Troubleshoot and conduct root cause analysis of project, production, and chemical bath process-related issues to minimize production downtime; ensure the Operations Manager and General Manager are kept abreast of progress and aware of process changes.

  • Generate project reports to allow internal stakeholders to effectively manage projects to budget and defined timelines.

  • Assist in conducting post-mortem project analysis to continuously improve project performance and duration.

  • Evaluate and validate vendor’s capabilities, quality, reliability, and reputation to meet requirements; ensure vendors have clarity on project needs, expectations, and process changes.

  • Assist in identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities with regards to processes.

  • Accurately document time allocation to evaluate production trends and identify continuous improvement opportunities; make recommendations to the management team.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with problem-solving tools: 5 Whys, Is / Is Not, Pareto Diagrams, Design of Experiments, FMEA

  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret specifications, prints, and other technical documents

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs

Work Environment

This role operates in an engineering office setting with work hours from Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 4 PM.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $57.00
