PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB:
Under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer ensures design inputs, adequacy of verification and validation testing, identifies key quality characteristics for products and critical components, creates quality plans for both internal and external manufacturing, and provides analysis and testing support.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Observes all Safety policies and procedures as outlined within Newell Brands’ Safety Excellence and Leadership (SEAL) program.
Drive success through the Company’s Planning, Engagement, Awareness and Knowledge (PEAK) continuous improvement program.
Personally responsible for upholding the Newell Brands Values and the Code of Conduct.
Develops and executes Quality Control & Management Systems
Creates and manages quality documentation in support of manufacturing and quality system processes.
Determines corrective actions
Provide standards for the measurement of and improvement in product quality
Provide statistical analysis and testing support, including Design of Experiments, process/production statistical controls and sample sizes
Provide development of product risk management
Develops and executes processes that ensure quality is designed into products utilizing basic and advanced techniques (including quality plans, process/product validations, design reviews, design transfer, protocol and report creation/review).
Facilitates the resolution of key quality issues by conducting failure investigations, assisting in problem resolution and providing feedback to the new product development process
Executes evaluations related to product issues and performance
Reviews and approves specifications and drawings for new products
Provides support qualification of key suppliers and supplier processes
Conducts supplier quality audits and reviews documentation
Reviews and approves labeling for products
Provides development of manufacturing processes
Assess problems that occur during process validation and develop resolutions
Provides guidance to quality technicians, lower-level engineers and associates
Support and participate in initiatives to develop a lean manufacturing culture
All other projects as assigned by management
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related field
ASQ Quality Engineer certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire
Microsoft Office, Minitab, Autocad, Solidworks, Mathcad and other related engineering tools and analysis software
Hands on experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and testing methodologies
Experience with lean manufacturing, six sigma tools, statistical methods for data analysis, preferred
Experience application and interpretation of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, sampling plans, metrology and inspections techniques, preferred
Experience in creating, reviewing and approving quality systems documentation, preferred
Experience with device master record, device history record and design history files, preferred
Experience with application of Corrective and Prevention Action, preferred.
Demonstrated communication and presentation skills
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to use quality tools to meet departmental and organizational goals and objectives
Ability to prioritize projects consisting of varying degrees of complexity
Ability to plan project activities in accordance with budgets and timelines
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in business relations
