The primary function of the Registered Nurse is to implement the plan of care for each resident that will lead to the highest level of functioning attainable, and then will maintain the resident at that level for as long as possible. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the direct care of residents, working along with the direct care staff to provide quality care for the residents. The Registered Nurse will coordinate the work of direct care staff serving on their team. The Registered Nurse is responsible to assist in the training and orientation of personnel, the implementation of fire, evacuation, and disaster plans, providing emergency care for all residents, notifying physicians, implementing orders, administering medications and treatments, documenting and reporting all information or changes on each resident. It is essential that the Registered Nurse maintain open communication with coworkers.
