Job Title: Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse

Schedule:Mon, Tues, Wed 8a-7p, Thurs 8a-5p, Friday off

Summary:The Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides quality care under the direct supervision of the Nurse Clinic Manager in collaboration with Medical Providers, Integrated Care Consultants, and Medical Assistants. The Float RN or LPN ensures that all patients receive quality care while maintaining compliance with all federal grants, HIPAA, and Hunter Health Clinic policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists Physicians, Mid-Levels, other Nurses, and Medical Assistants with patient care.
  • Sets up patient rooms for exams before the medical providers arrival per what the patient visits entail, including ensuring proper tray setup, and subsequently prepping the patient.
  • Captures patients vitals in adherence to what is required for the age of the patient. This can include but is not limited to temperature, pulse, respirations, head circumference for infants, blood pressure, height, and weight, and record values in EHR.
  • Performs various procedures and follow-ups as required by providers, including but not limited to nebulizer treatments, blood glucose tests, TB skin tests, sutures, staple removal, etc.
  • Adheres to the Rights of Medication Administration: right patient, right medication, right dose, right route, and right time.
  • Administers medication with proper procedures for different forms of medication, as well as ensuring all prescription refill requests are reviewed and approved and subsequently faxed and received.
  • Assists with documenting historical immunizations into Web-IZ and EHR, as well as administering vaccinations and documenting the site and recommended ages for vaccines.
  • Documents the following information in EHR timely and accurately: patient history, chief complaint, all procedures, patient encounters, phone calls, referrals, education, medications, follow-ups, and notifications.
  • Assists and monitors inventory and keeps the storage supply closet organized while monitoring biohazard disposal receptacles, and sharps containers for daily updates in the infection control manual.
  • Follows all infection prevention protocols including handwashing and cleaning of the exam rooms.
  • Answers all notifications and phone messages and returns patient calls within 24 hours.
  • Completes all forms accurately such as Gynecological (Pap Smears/STD) workups, EDW forms, various lab orders and requisition forms, and pharmacy forms.
  • Attends designated meetings as an employee and medical staff member.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Current licensure in the State of Kansas as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse required.
  • BLS Certification is required within 30 days of employment and must maintain certification.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a Family Practice Clinic or hospital setting preferred.
  • Prior experience with Electronic Medical Records software preferred.
