Job Summary: The SBA Lending Associate partners with commercial lenders and Bank customers and prospects to underwrite and analyze potential SBA loans. In addition, the SBA Lending Associate advises on SBA regulatory compliance, prepares SBA loan documents, and closes SBA loans. Must provide a high level of customer service to internal and external customers. Promotes an environment of teamwork within the department and across the bank. Represents INTRUST Bank in all they do in the community and is focused on the development of new business relationships. Must maintain strict standards of confidentiality and perform duties in a manner supporting INTRUST’s Character Qualities.

Essential Functions: All expectations described in the job description’s essential functions are necessary to be successful in this role, performed with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Interprets and understands the SBA’s standard operating procedures (SOP) including all new SOPs and any changes to existing SOPs.

  • Compiles information and analyzes financial statements in accordance with both SBA regulation and loan policy. Completes initial underwriting for all SBA loans.

  • Creates SBA credit memos for approval by the commercial relationship manager, managing director, and/or loan committee.

  • Recommends structures while ensuring compliance with SBA SOP

  • Meets with customers and lenders to communicate SBA loan underwriting policies and regulations.

  • Assesses credit quality of loan applicants.

  • Oversees file reviews of SBA loan requests to ensure credit quality is acceptable for the entire SBA loan portfolio.

  • Prepares all SBA loan closing documentation via LaserPro and SBA Lending Solutions.

  • Closes all SBA loans with the borrower.

  • Partners with commercial lender to ensure that any servicing needs are completed in compliance with SBA requirements. Completes SBA servicing requests in accordance with SBA SOPs.

  • Assists in monitoring ongoing construction projections including construction draws, site visits and site visit reports.

  • Reviews loan applications completed by the credit department for SBA 504 loans to ensure compliance with SBA regulations.

  • Completes monthly SBA 1502 reporting.

  • Assists manager and special assets team with liquidations, care and preservation of collateral, and purchase requests within the SBA portfolio.

  • Assists manager with periodic SBA/OCRM audits of the SBA portfolio.

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in business, with a preferred major in finance or accounting plus 1 – 4 years of banking experience, preferably in commercial lending or commercial credit.

Required Skills and Knowledge: Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to work on multiple projects, with flexibility to change priorities to meet deadlines. Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Strong independent thinking, analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail and accuracy. Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify areas of risk. Uses good judgement to carry out instructions, analyze and interpret documents, understand procedures, write correspondence and emails, and speak clearly and professionally to customers and employees in person and via phone. Ability to learn new software packages and adapt to changes in processes and workflows. Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.

Physical Demands: Extended period(s) of time may be spent viewing a personal computer, sitting, standing, and walking. Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs. The physical demands necessary for this role should be performed with or without a reasonable accommodation.
