Description
We are in search of a meticulous and experienced Cost Accountant to join our team based in Wichita, Kansas. The selected candidate will be primarily responsible for managing and maintaining our cost accounting system, incorporating understanding of manufacturing operations, and generally accepted accounting practices. This role involves some travel to Texas and will report directly to the Controller. Responsibilities:
• Monitor project costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure adherence to financial regulations and company policies.
• Develop project budgets and track actual expenses to ensure projects are completed within budget.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to provide financial insights and recommendations that support decision making.
• Prepare regular financial reports for review by the Controller and General Manager.
• Analyze and report profit margins to Project Managers, General Manager, and Controller.
• Ensure billing is prepared accurately and submitted on a timely basis.
• Ensure AP invoices are approved, coded, and submitted on a timely basis.
• Manage Work in Process and prepare month-end journal entries.
• Verify material on hand as part of the month-end close process.
• Create ad hoc reports and work on special projects throughout the month.
• Assist the Controller with the annual review.
Requirements • The applicant must possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role as a Cost Accountant.
• Demonstrable proficiency in Accounting Functions is required.
• Proficient knowledge of Budget Processes is necessary.
• The candidate should have substantial experience in Cost Accounting.
• Familiarity with Cost Analysis is essential.
• Experience in Manufacturing Cost Accounting is preferred.
• The candidate should have a good understanding of Project Cost.
• Familiarity with WIP - Work In Progress is necessary.
• The candidate should have experience in Expense Management.
• The ability to Prepare Financial Reports is essential.
• Knowledge of Profit Margin calculation is required.
• The applicant should be proficient in Month End Close procedures.
• Familiarity with Bill of Materials (BOM) is necessary.
• Proficiency in MS Dynamics 365 Business Central is required.
