About This Role

The Shop Foreman will be required to lead a team of mechanics and assume responsibility for the overall operation and condition of the shop. They will work alongside all other mechanics to diagnose and repair all types of diesel, gas, propane, and electrically powered equipment with a strong knowledge of the workings of a carburetor and electrical trouble shooting skills preferred. The equipment we use comes in varying shapes and sizes.

Properly prioritize equipment and shop repairs

Maintaining a consistent workflow in the shop by assigning work to technicians according to skill level

Maintain necessary records

Provide Manager with daily shop progress report

Provide mentorship to young technicians

Read and understand repair manuals and schematics

Repair forklifts (e.g., repairing propane fuel systems, hydraulic systems, pallet jacks, etc.)

Repair heavy trucks (e.g., working on tractor-trailers, brakes, tires)

Repair light trucks (e.g., trucks, vans, support vehicles, etc.)

Conduct preventative maintenance on all types of equipment

Maintain vehicle and machine records as required

Disassembly, reassembly, and/or repair of machine tools, replacement of bearings, spindles, etc.

Responsible for personal safety and safety of co-workers

Other duties as assigned by management

Qualified Candidates Must Have

Applicants need to have a valid drivers license

High School diploma, GED, and/or vocational training/certification

Equivalent years of experience may be considered

7+ Years technician experience

1+ Year of leadership experience strongly preferred

Your own mechanical tools

Must be able to read and understand repair manuals and schematics

Must have working knowledge of the following:

Gas & Diesel Engines

Hydraulics

Transmission, differentials, and final drives

Electrical/Electronic systems

Internal combustible engines

Pneumatics

Must demonstrate excellent attendance patterns

Willingness to work overtime as necessary

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

Working conditions vary day by day and require both indoor and outdoor activities. Exposure to extreme weather elements, including wet and/or dry humid conditions, extreme cold and extreme heat regularly.

Must be able to exert 75 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 to 50 pounds of force frequently. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and listen. The employee is frequently required to use hand to fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, working with arms overhead; climb or balance; sit, bend, stoop, twist, kneel, squat, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
