GDIT supports Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Defense (JPEO-CBRND), Joint Project Lead CBRN Integration (JPL CBRN Integration) to provide sensor connected Warning, Reporting, and Hazard Prediction capability to Service-specific Command and Control systems. Our engineers develop, integrate, upgrade, and modernize the software that provides this vital information to military commanders. And, we have an opportunity for a Software Developer to join our team.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs all phases of the software development lifecycle utilizing the Agile Scrum methodology, Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD), and DevSecOps practices designed to create a scalable modeling architecture suitable for a single user as well as cloud based multi-user support

  • Analyzes user/business needs and functionality to plan and design software systems to meet those needs

  • Creates a variety of models and diagrams that show programmers the software code needed for an application

  • Performs software updates, refinement, testing, and debugging to meet business needs

  • Provides analysis for reports on software project specifications, activities, or status

  • Thoroughly documents the software or system for future maintenance and updates

  • May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals

  • May serve as a team or task lead

Technologies/Skills

Java/JavaScript, C, C++, Perl, Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML), REST/SOAP based web services, Web Services Description Language (WSDL), Java Server Pages (JSP), Extensible Markup Language (XML), Ozone Widget Framework (OWF), Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) services, Apache Tomcat, ActiveMQ, and PostgreSQL

Tools:

Jira, Maven, Fortify, SonarQube, JUnit, Docker, commercial software packages that provide building, publishing and scanning of containerized software

Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD), DevSecOps tools

Familiarity with: weather data service interfaces, NATO ATP-45 CBRN Reports, Global Command and Control System Joint (GCCS-J), Joint Tactical Common Operational Picture Workstation (JTCW), Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), Data Dissemination Services (DDS), Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes

Requirements:

  • BA/BS or equivalent, 5+ years of experience

  • Knowledge of software/systems engineering principles, methods, and techniques. Including the Design, Development, Integration, Testing, Configuration and Installation of Hardware and Software

  • Experience providing software update deliveries for post deployment support on operationally fielded product baselines

  • Advanced knowledge of software/systems engineering principles, methods, and techniques

  • Experience with warning and reporting software, preferred

  • Knowledge of Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) sensor integration including the use of Common CBRN Sensor Interface (CCSI) and Integrated Sensor Architecture (ISA) interfaces, preferred

  • Familiarity with accomplishing system accreditation through the identification and remediation of applicable Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs), DISA Web Services and Application Server Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs),DISA Database Security Requirements Guide (SRG), and other cybersecurity controls

  • Secret clearance, TS eligible
