VMware Sr. Technical Marketing Architect - Opportunity for Working Remotely in Wichita, Kansas

As a Senior Technical Marketing Architect, you will be responsible for building technical customer demonstrations, working with sales engineering teams, and presenting at conferences/on webinars. You will have an opportunity to work in two of the fastest growing areas in multi-cloud management—FinOps and security/compliance. Reporting into our Product Marketing Team, this role will be responsible for creating technical materials to evangelize the CloudHealth by VMware Suite.

Your regular activities may be modified to suit your strengths, but you can expect a variety of the following responsibilities:

  • Developing and delivering technical material (e.g., blogs, videos, and code samples)

  • Equipping the revenue organization with the knowledge and tools they need to successfully communicate the product value to customers and prospects

  • Collaborating with product marketing and product management on new launches

  • Demoing to industry analysts

  • Communicating customer requirements and providing input to product management on service improvements and future service direction

  • Working cross-functionally with other business groups to build joint and integrated solutions.

As part of your onboarding, your checkpoints will include:

  • Within 30 days, have a clear understanding of how our business operates and how we interact with our customers and partners. Also, completing any required certifications

  • Within 60 days, you will be expected to deliver a product pitch and demo to the team

  • Within 90 days, you will be developing technical content and demoing both internally and externally


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related area, or prior experience as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, Engineer, or related field

  • 4+ years of experience with at least one of the leading public cloud providers – AWS, Azure, GCP, or Oracle

  • Experience with Programming/Scripting languages like Python

  • Knowledge of REST/GraphQL APIs

  • Familiarity with video creation and management tools such as Camtasia

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time (when travel resumes)

Preferred Skills:

  • AWS / Azure/ GCP Certified

  • Exposure to cloud services like AWS Lambda, Azure functions

  • Understanding of cloud reservation models like AWS Savings Plans

  • Knowledge of cloud security tools

  • Understanding of Enterprise Architecture concepts and best practices

The CloudHealth Product Marketing team is unique as it includes individuals across product marketing, technical marketing, sales enablement, and customer loyalty functions. The team is distributed across the United States, with most of the team located in Boston, Massachusetts. Key values of the team are transparency, humor, and collaboration.

The Hiring Manager for this role is Marie Burke, Director of Product Marketing. She joined VMware as part of the acquisition of CloudHealth Technologies in 2018 and has worked on the CloudHealth platform for about five years.

This role is considered flexible and will be a mix of working from a local VMware office and remote depending on your preferences and the arrangements determined with your future manager.

This job may require the candidate to comply with travel restrictions and/or work from a facility that requires full vaccination prior to entry. Further, depending on various factors, including legal challenges to the Executive Order on Ensuring Adequate COVID Safety Protocols for Federal Contractors, VMware may require employees to be fully vaccinated effective January 18, 2022.
