VMware Staff Engineer - Developer Productivity - Opportunity for Working Remotely in Wichita, Kansas

About the team

The Developer Productivity team at VCDR is passionate about building comprehensive build and test infrastructure, automated tools and extensible frameworks that facilitate the entire development and release lifecycle. This team maintains the physical and virtual infrastructure and tools that support VCDR development, build, test and release. We enable the VCDR team to deliver products with the highest efficiency and quality.

Responsibilities

As Staff Engineer - Tools/Developer productivity in CPBU-VCDR, you will

  • Partner with other engineering teams and develop scalable tools and infrastructure to develop, test, debug and release software quickly

  • Help maintain the backend physical and virtual infrastructure that supports our CI/CD and Dev test environments

  • Follow best practices for development

  • Participate in code and design reviews

Requirements

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or Engineering

  • At least 10 years of experience

  • Proficiency in Python or Java

  • Proficiency in data structures and algorithms

  • Relevant work experience in software development and/or tools and Infrastructure

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong linux system administration, debugging and analytical skills

  • Self-motivated, results-oriented and most importantly a team player

  • Experience with Virtualization, Distributed systems and/or Cloud platforms is a plus
