The Therapist provides for the safety, stability, and well-being of children and families by delivering and coordinating culturally competent therapeutic and case management services that are responsive to the unique needs of the family. This is a full-time, non-exempt position, with the ability to be in Mission, Kansas or Lawrence, Kansas. Successful candidates are relationship and mission driven. The Therapist is a member of DCCCA's Family Preservation Services (FPS) team. Family Preservation provides intensive in-home services and case management services to families who have one or more children at risk of out-of-home placement or who will be at risk of out-of-home placement at birth.

Essential Functions:

+ Provides for the safety, stability and well-being of children and families during the referral period

+ Completes and analyzes initial and on-going family assessments related to safety, stability and well-being, including mental health, substance abuse, education, emotional, social and physical well-being, parenting and parent-child relationships

+ Utilizes assessments to develop the case plan in partnership with child/ren and family; make community referrals as necessary

+ Delivers and coordinates culturally competent therapeutic and case management services to children and families consistent with the evidence-based practice models

+ Builds therapeutic relationships for conflictual relationships, including domestic violence and parent child conflicts, crisis intervention and stabilization

+ Provides education, and/or intervention, related to sexual abuse, domestic violence, and substance abuse prevention

+ Assesses child safety and risk, initially and ongoing, assisting the family in developing a behaviorally specific safety plan and monitoring for child safety

+ Meets with the family in the home weekly and meets monthly with each child individually

+ Available to the family 24 hours per day, 7 days per week to mitigate immediate child safety concerns and stabilize family crisis and assess the family's needs

Education and Licenses:

+ Master's degree in social work or human services field, required

+ Master's level licensure with the Kansas BSRB, required

+ LMAC or LCAC helpful, but not required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

+ Prior work, including practicum hours, in behavioral health or children and family services, required

+ Experience with addictions treatment, helpful but not required

+ Valid driver's license and ability to maintain a good driving record

+ Successful completion of pre-employment background checks, references, fingerprinting, and drug screening
