The Truck Driver/Inv Controller supports the production operations by delivering materials and products to and from various stations, moves trailers for shipping/receiving and pick-up and delivery of inventory.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following:
Obtains job instructions from supervisor or lead.
Local delivery/pick-up of inventory within 20 miles of facility. Occasional delivery/pick-up of inventory within 150 miles of facility with rare overnight trips.
Move trailers between parking area and loading docks.
Operates material handling equipment to distribute production materials and products within and between the warehouse, stock and production.
Fills orders from stock.
Inspects materials for damage in packaging, verifies count and part numbers.
Loads and unloads transportation units.
Maintains accurate records for inventory and production purposes.
Keeps work area in order and observes all safety rules as specified in employee handbooks, memos, and MSDS literature.
Operates a semi-truck according to applicable state and federal transportation laws.
Deftly maneuvers truck and trailer into loading and unloading areas; follows loading crew signals.
Assists with loading of or loads and unloads goods and materials, using specialized equipment when warranted; unloads empty skids and returns all equipment to designated area.
Arranges trailers in shipping yards for optimum loading patterns.
Facilitates routine service on trucks, which may include checking oil, water, gasoline, and air; reports maintenance malfunctions to Shipping Supervisor.
Performs other related duties as assigned to support the organization.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) – Class A.
Experience in operating a forklift.
Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, safety material, and manuals used on the job.
Ability to complete basic mathematics functions and ability to count accurately.
Ability to identify and describe problems.
Ability to interpret and apply safety instructions provided orally or in writing to the job assigned.

The employee is required to sit for 5-7 hours a day while driving a forklift/truck or required to stand 8-9 hours a day while filling orders and inspecting materials, push or pull objects up to 50-100 pounds occasionally, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, and have the motor skills to operate various forklifts or equipment used to distribute materials throughout the factory. Manually loads and unloads transportation units as needed. Vision requirements include: close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Employee will be exposed to moving mechanical machinery on a daily basis and to pieces of sheet metal, which may have sharp edges. The noise level in the factory is moderate to loud. Temperatures inside the factory during the summer months can exceed 100 degrees for days at a time.
