    About this role

    Health & Safety

  • Oversees the coordination and/or delivery of safety training. Prepares and conducts required in-person training as well as supporting SafetySkills training. Will conduct all safety presentations/training during the New Employee Orientation process.

  • Develops, implements, and evaluates new safety programs, policies, and procedures

  • Performs, tracks, reports and analyzes safety/hazard recognition observations & engagement forms.

  • Leads incident investigations to pinpoint root causes as well as identifying and implementing corrective/preventative actions.

  • Main contact for all health, safety and environmental issues that occur at this location.

  • Conducts monthly communications meetings and coordinates the activities of the Steering Committee and participates in the facilitation of sub-committees.

  • Maintains PPE and trains first aid, CPR, AED and blood pathogen programs.

  • Tracks daily, weekly, monthly and annual equipment/department inspections for resolutions.

  • Updates online safety systems with near misses, first aids, recordable injuries; completes OSHA logs. Updates and control safety bulletin board and messaging system.

  • Work closely with the plant manager and department managers to increase employee engagement, address hazardous conditions and behaviors and drive overall safety improvement.

  • Support and oversee individual teams concerning Safety Management System progression.

  • Daily plant walk-through and daily focused assessments on the production floor that include an action plan with timelines and responsible people.

  • Set up and schedule annual audiometric testing, Industrial Hygiene work, annual ITA and BLS reporting, Hazard Recognition program.

  • Researching and implementing new equipment, conducting the new, moved and modified equipment checklist before turning over to production.

  • Assumes all other duties as requested.

    Environmental

  • Manages Chemical Control program, including chemical approval process, recommendations of use, labeling, training and appropriate PPE.

  • Manages Emergency Preparedness and Response Program. Functions as the On-Site Incident Commander.

  • Responsible for all state and federal reporting requirements.

  • Managers Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasure Plan.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field.

  • Earned Certifications preferred.

  • 3-5 years related experience.

  • Environmental certification or experience desirable but not required.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak effectively to groups of employees, contractors and government agencies.

  • Strong problem solving resolution skills.

  • Must be assertive and heavily engaged.

  • Ability to create spreadsheets, charts/graphs and interpret/analyze results.

  • Has experience leading/facilitating groups/teams and is an influencer with the ability to coach production employees, supervisors, department managers and plant manager.

    The physical requirements for this position are classified as requiring Level 3 – Medium Work. This is defined as the ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
