Job Purpose

The Service Technician performs combustion performance testing on commercial and industrial burner products that are manufactured on-site. He or she is required to document testing irregularities/performance issues with products.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Boiler/Burner Combustion experience a must
  • Read and understand wiring diagram, schematics, and blueprints
  • Assemble and mount burners to boilers for testing
  • Pipe oil lines, gas trains, feed water systems and steam headers to boilers
  • Perform mounting and reading of test instruments, recording readings and test data with knowledge of normal parameters. Maintain well organized written reports and project records in a manner that the results can be analyzed and used by others
  • Maintain a neat, clean and functional work area at all times
  • Ensure compliance with all safety rules and standards
  • Assist other Fire Test Lab technicians with any lab, service and R & D functions as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills/Qualifications/Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years electrical panel wiring, wiring diagram/blueprint and/or schematic experience. HVAC or related experience required.
  • High School Diploma/GED. Trade or technical school education is a plus
  • Proven mechanical abilities
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints
  • Working knowledge of power and manual hand tools such as drills, wrenches, etc
  • Good oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Great customer service skills
  • Ability to work overtime that may include evenings and weekends when required
